Job Title: Senior Platform Data Engineer
Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Salary: €125,000
The Job:
We are looking for a Senior Platform Data Engineer to join a growing Data team at a leading proprietary trading firm in Amsterdam, you will be responsible for maximising the value of company wide data.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and maintain platform capabilities
- Build and manage data infrastructure and data-intensive applications
- Generate insights and optimise data accessibility and performance for business
- Collaborate with SRE, Backend Platforms, and Trading Platforms teams, as well as Business units
- Assist operations with deployment and configuration of data infrastructure
- Provide mentorship and coaching to less experienced colleagues
The Must-Haves:
- Proficiency in data modeling and utilisation of data warehousing platforms such as BigQuery
- Deep understanding of distributed storage, middleware (e.g., Kafka), data processing tools (e.g., Apache Beam, Spark), and container orchestration systems (e.g., Kubernetes)
- Hands-on expertise with Java and Python programming languages
- Familiarity with data governance processes and concepts
The Nice to Haves:
- Proficient in modern data science techniques and tools such as Pandas, Tensorflow, and SparkML, with a strong grasp of AI and machine learning concepts
- Solid understanding of cloud computing principles, including storage, databases, and data analysis and processing, ideally with experience in GCP and AWS
